LOVE Is A Daily Thing…Not Just Once A Year!
Imagine a global trend of saying "NO!" to all of the February marketing nonsense and instead, starting a movement to serve others with encouraging words, by giving of our time & expressing love for those in need!
Obviously, we’ve been talking quite a bit about how to spread love this week – since yesterday was Valentine’s Day. It’s important to express your love every day, but sometimes it’s good to circle back around to really focus on that.
So, today I want to share one more way you can express love. And it doesn’t matter if you’re single, dating or married! In fact, your whole family or office can do this!
Instead of spending money on the typical cards, candy and flowers, what if you became a Valentine for an orphan or family who can’t put food on the table? Can you imagine starting THAT trend? Can you imagine a worldwide trend of saying “NO!” to all of the marketing nonsense out there right now, and instead, deciding to start a movement to express your love by providing for an orphan today? Think about how powerful that would be!
You see, nobody thinks about orphans in February! If anyone ever thinks about caring for someone who is homeless or hurting, it’s usually in December, or maaaaaybe November – for Thanksgiving. But Valentine’s Day? NO WAY! I say let’s join forces and start a new trend! Let’s extend this “Love Day” and spread love worldwide!
Let’s reject the marketers trying to get us to spend money on stuff we don’t even need! It doesn’t take much to bring a lot of love, hope and encouragement to someone in need!
For the past couple of years, we have been working on a project, along with King’s Ransom Foundation. We have a goal to build 1000 homes for families in Nicaragua – the second-poorest nation in the western hemisphere. But these aren’t just any families… they currently live in run-down, unsafe homes made from scraps of wood, metal and even, garbage. They spend their days at the dump, digging through trash, searching for food, clothing and anything they can sell. They have no clean water to drink, no food for themselves or their children, and no safe place to call home. This is the reality for so many people, day-in and day-out.
So, we’re working to change that reality… doing our part to transform this poverty-stricken village into a safe, thriving community. We are not just building homes; we are building sustainable lives!
Can you see how that spreads LOVE? It goes so much deeper than cards, flowers and candy! Giving and serving are the true actions of love.
Now, I’m NOT saying don’t celebrate and express love to your family and loved ones! I’m simply saying this is a great time to reach-out and express love in a different way, too! You can get your family, friends, coworkers or even your community, involved in this!
If you’re ready to dive in with us and help spread LOVE this week, King’s Ransom Foundation is a great place to start! This is an amazing organization, currently feeding thousands of children and taking care of the poor all over the world, every single month. It’s the only organization I recommend, support 100% and where our money goes – because 100% of every dollar goes straight to the need.
Let’s create a movement, and instead of blowing money on silly things that don’t really mean anything, let’s serve people with encouraging words, by giving of our time and expressing our love for those in need!
