Title: Web Developer – Designer

Reports to: Marketing Director

Based at: Kerrville, TX

Job purpose:

The role of the Web Developer – Designer is to design, establish, implement, develop, and control development of code as required for the website(s) and related applications (includes Shopping Cart) and related plug-ins.  This includes defining and documenting all development projects, managing the projects and delivering high quality code on time and within budget. Act as the Project Manager at times and be responsible for defining project key performance metrics and obtaining or allocating resources as needed for the project assigned.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  1. Take ownership of and drive the process, planning, and coordination necessary to implement new web/dev projects.
  2. Track/manage projects to successful completion, communicating status, issues and risks to project stakeholders. Ensure that team members execute upon their deliverables. Keep projects on schedule and within scope and budget. Obtain final signoff from the project stakeholders.
  3. Manage web project requirements (design requirements, detailed specifications, interface and functionality mockups) for review by the project stakeholders and modify as requested.
  4. Work closely with the project stakeholders to gather and refine technical, operational and/or business requirements.
  5. Be the Brand advocate and ensure all branding is consistent throughout the organization.
  6. Manage the resolution of live-site operational issues.
  7. Work with external vendors and developers on projects.
  8. Utilize project-planning tools to ensure timely completion of project tasks and deliverables with a high degree of quality.
  9. Communicate with and present ideas to senior management.
  10. Create Product design – integrating color, art, and templates to produce high quality packaging for our products.
  11. Create and update websites as required.

 

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  1. Experienced web developer to take projects from concept to completion and beyond.
  2. Proven track record of successful self-management of projects with on-time and on-budget delivery.
  3. Extremely capable communicator, able to understand business requirements and create concise project requirements.
  4. Formal project management experience/training a plus.
  5. Familiarity with Open Source technologies.
  6. Experience working with project collaboration applications (MS Project, phpCollab, etc.).
  7. Experience working with HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, WordPress, and Dreamweaver.
  8. Creative and proven to understand market needs for design.

Personal Situation: Must be mature and available to work extended hours on occasions when required. Must be able to comfortably commute to the office and be available for air travel as required.  Must have a clean driving record.

Ability to handle multiple concurrent activities and have a flexible, positive attitude. Demonstrated ability to track, organize and prioritize workload. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Management Ability: Though internal staff management is not initially part of the job, responsibility and opportunity could grow with the development of the business. Position will direct team members on projects that are assigned from a project management point of view. Strong people-management skills, experience and natural ability required. Must have good planning and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
